XMAS: Spidey’s Seasons Greetings
Merry Xmas & Happy New Year from me. I used a prelim sketch for the Spiderman Blue cover by Tim Sale as the basis for this. background New York shot from google but recolored by me and snow added over multiple layers.
Kevin Newburn’s Hulk [Colour/Ink/Back: LocalHero]
Another finally finished WIP. This started out life as a rough head and shoulders sketch by Kev, I inked over it using vector paths and then converted them to raster to cut them into tapering lines. The colouring is done with multiple screen and overlay layers. Started in PSP 8 finished in PSP X2

The angle of the drawing led me to the coloring choices. Someone on the roof of a dark warehouse would be somewhat in the shadows. As usual the background was created from multiple textures and gradients, distorted to fit the image. I even included my logo as graffiti. I really like how this turned out, particularly the cobwebs and little “Spidey” spiders 😉

Craig Rousseau Pencils. Bob Almond Inks. From the 2001 Heroes Con Program Guide Colored in PSPX2 using many many multiply and screen layers. Can’t remember if this was an official Avengers line up (perhaps West Coast?) – Vision, Wonder Man, Scarlet Witch, Beast, Black Panther.

Inset filtered photo of random house from the web representing Xavier’s school. The arcane symbols over the top were a last minute addition but I think they work well.

Another ‘Ringo piece from 2006. had to do a bit of cleaning on this as there were quite a lot of pencil/sketching lines left on the scan. A great artist who will be sorely missed.

Digital Coloring/Layout of a Mike Wieringo 2006 Sketch of everyone’s favourite blue eyed pile of rock. You may recognise the background from an earlier wolverine pic I did – nothing wrong with reusing elements! Especially when you are feeling lazy.

A 1996 John Byrne rendition of the thing I took a fancy to coloring. The exiting from the frame effect just happened by accident.

This sketch came up on the random images in the front page over at Heromorph and I thought I would have a go at inking/coloring it. Done with vectors/textures & gradients. Background made up of several layers of random dots. The original sketch was very dark so I decided to keep it that way – which is kinda fitting given the character.
