SpiderManGeek Mask Design Variations

Found a great redesign of the Spiderman Mask by SpiderManGeek http://spidermangeek.deviantart.com/art/Spider-Man-Mask-Redesign-174895994 and thought I would ink it and do some different color variations.

Top Left inked with classic weblines, top right movie ‘raised’ web lines

Bottom – classic, symbiote, 2099 color schemes

Spiderman is of course copyright Marvel

DSC Lovember 16 Barbarella in Pygor’s Nest

My sketch challenge submission today is of a scene in Barbarella where she has just “thanked” Pygor the angel in her own bouncy way and he is off flying having regained his enthusiasm.

Sketch itself is reduced up in the corner, and took about 15 mins. The rest took about 45 – 60mins to digitally ink and shade

DSC Lovember 15 Shulkie

Midway through Lovember and finally we get to the Sensational She-Hulk, Jennifer Walters. I used my 2004 photomanip of Cindy Crawford as reference for this piece. http://www.localhero.org.uk/2004/05/wanted-litigator-apply-fisk-industries/

These roughs took about 30mins

The finished lines took about another 45 mins

The colors took another 60 mins as I was playing about a bit

DSC Catchup 010811 Atomic Robo

Second catchup of the weekend –

Atomic Robo is a robot possessing “automatic intelligence”, created by Nikola Tesla in 1923. He is a core member of Tesladyne Industries, “a thinktank dedicated to exploring the fringes of scientific inquiry”, whose Action Scientists often respond to paranormal and supernatural emergencies.[11] Robo has a developed sense of humor, and makes numerous wise cracks at his foes’ expense. In the past, he has secretly worked with the United States government as well as NASA. Robo’s personality is based on Clevinger’s grandfather.

Created by 8-Bit Theater writer Brian Clevinger and artist Scott Wegener, the series began as a six-issue limited series published by Red 5 Comics starting in October 2007.[1] It was nominated in the “Best Limited Series” category of the 2008 Eisner Awards, won by The Umbrella Academy. Colorist Ronda Pattison was also nominated in the “Best Coloring” category subsequently won by Dave Stewart.

DSC Catchup 270711 The Darkness

Another challenge catchup from the Outcast archives – The Darkness is an ancient demonic power and a force of all evil in the world. The Darkness bonds with a male human host to carry out its physical missions in the corporal world: to spill chaos over the world of light. It leaves the previous user (and takes his life) as his first child is conceived. The Darkness then awakens within the host on his 21st birthday. Darkness hosts can create anything they desire with The Darkness, even sentient beings, but anything they make will crumble to dust in the light. The Darkness is quite deadly allowing the user to manipulate the shadows/dark to call forth darkling minions to do his bidding and even survive gunshots. It can also be used to maul and feed on people. The Darkness does not function except in the dark, but some users can also manipulate this by creating their own shadows/darkness (smoke-grenades, turning off lights in a room, being underground, etc.).

DSC Lovember 11 007 Dr No

Didn’t manage to submit an entry for the friday challenge as I was out enjoying several alcoholic beverages with some folks from my work. A good time was had by all, be it somewhat emotional as a few team mates were moving on to other jobs.

Anyways – no hangover this morning – just a sore throat from talking in loud pubs! And so I visited Outcast and saw that yesterday’s theme was to do a poster for a James Bond movie. [link] Given that Sean Connery is still my favourite Bond (although Daniel Craig is growing on me quickly in the role) and I have seen Dr No more times than I can remember I thought I would do something in the form of a playing card – the Jack of Hearts to be precises. I think this is fitting since Bond is a big fan of cards (bacarrat) and they is a bit of a jack the lad, breaking womens hearts wherever he goes. Also the two heads flipped makes an interesting design i think. This took about 2 hours to do. Over this challenges 90mins but was enjoying it.

For those not on tablets or unwilling to flip your screen or unhinge your neck – I have included the reversal of the image too

WSC Catchup 220711 Mr and Mrs Outcast

Was looking for something different to draw today so went back into the Outcast Archived challenges again and pulled out this one http://outcaststudios.com/forums/index.php/topic/10885-weekend-staffers-challenge-mr-mrs-outcast/

The challenge: If Outcast Studios were to host a happily married super heroic tandem in action… what would they look like??? What powers would they have?
The only guideline here is that they’re a male and female couple each bearing the Outcast Studios logo letters “OS” is some way or fashion. Showing their powers in use is a plus. Designing their super powered pet is entirely optional!

Seen Here

Mr Outcast = Multitool – with the ability to transform his body into artistic implements; pens, pencils, knives, brushes etc

Mrs Outcast = Prismatica – with the ability to generate large quantities of liquid of many colors, Prismatica is the perfect partner for Multitool

DSC Lovember 4 Westley / Dread Pirate Roberts – As you Wish

The challenge today was to draw Westley (or his alter ego the Dread Pirate Roberts) from the Princess Bride – I decided to have a go at farmboy Westley. Absolutely love this film. [link]

And for good measure since I had already done most of the hard work and drawn Weslesy – here is the Dread Pirate Roberts too

DSC Lovember 3: Thorgal Aegirsson

Wasn’t familiar with today’s Lovember challenge subject http://outcaststudios.com/forums/index.php/topic/11338-daily-sketch-challenge-thorgal-aegirsson/ but thought I would give it a go anyway.

Thorgal is a Belgian comic book series created by writer Jean Van Hamme and the Polish graphic artist Grzegorz Rosinski. It originally started appearing in the TinTin Magazine, but was moved to hardcover volumes starting from 1980. Since then the popularity of the series has prompted them to be translated into all the major languages in Europe. he was named after Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, and Aegir, the ruler of the sea; because he was considered to be a gift from the Gods. He despises wars, fist-fights, kingdom, or supremacy, and wants to settle down as a day-to-day family man, fueled by his unmatched love towards Aaricia. The story quietly follows their medieval age sword-fighting adventures with us being reminded on this underlying family values

DSC Lovember 1: Jessica Rabbit

First challenge of November or Lovember (all the characters picked for challenges this month have been suggested by members as their faves) as it has been christened over at Outcast is Jessica Rabbit – the fabulous femme fatale from Who framed Roger Rabbit? http://outcaststudios.com/forums/index.php/topic/11332-daily-sketch-challenge-jessica-rabbit/

Lyrics from the song she sings in her first appearance in the movie.

DSC 311011 The Real Mike Myers

I saw that today’s sketch challenge http://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://outcaststudios.com/forums/index.php/topic/11330-daily-sketch-challenge-michael-myers/ was Michael Myers and my first thought was that Austin Powers 3 (Goldmember) was a real horror of a movie and thus this picture was born and yes that is supposed to be the other Mike Myers head in Halloween’s Michael Myer’s hand..

DSC 291011 Supernatural-ish

Well I know I already submitted a quick sketch for yesterdays challenge, but I wanted to do another more cartoony one with the same
subject – Sam and Dean Worthington from Supernatural. http://outcaststudios.com/forums/index.php/topic/11324-daily-sketch-challenge-
vol17-11/ I used one of the references provided and tried to capture the posters look but make it fun

The sketch itself took about 10-15mins. Lines, flats and shading took considerably more. All done in Sai.

Here is also some of the wip steps as an animation

DSC Catchup – 220711 Isaiah Bradley

Another oldie sketch challenge from 22 July 2010 – Isaiah Bradley from Truth: Red, White & Black by Robert Morales and Kyle Baker. Used bodybuilder Victor Martinez as reference for this. Also thanks to the grungy paper texture by bashcorpo was able to age the colors and try to make it look like a flyer that had survived the end of the war.

DSC Catchup – 290711 Bucky

Another DSC catchup. Finding going back through challenges I missed is great practice and also a great source of ideas for images. Anyway from July – Bucky Barnes [link]

I was going to draw him frozen but then thought it would be a better shot of him holding cap’s shield wondering if he could ever fill that role – and nowadays we know he can 😉
